The challenge of poverty in the world is daunting.
Around this world of ours, more than one billion people today live in urban slums. Our brothers and sisters face hunger, homelessness, injustice, slavery, disease, oppression, and exploitation.
We believe that Jesus calls us to walk with those in poverty, especially those who are in desperate need of Him. With such deep needs all around, it’s easy to be paralyzed by the enormity of the challenge. Where do we even start? Can we make a difference?
The answer, we believe, is yes. We created Shout it Aloud to catalyze people like you to take just one step toward loving the poor.
To begin our journey, we listen to what God has to say about reaching out to those in need in our own lives. We chose Isaiah 58 as our primary reflective passage because of the clarity of the call and the depth of God’s promise to us as we respond.
Because we were never called or created to answer every need alone, we find others who are serving the poor. We gather together to learn more about where we fit into God’s plan. We join others in their work. We share our resources.
We take one step. Then we take another. Together, we can walk into God’s call to love and His promise of healing and joy.
We hope you will journey with us.
